Right of Way Agent

The position involves acquiring property rights and permits for various public improvement projects, including but not limited to Wind Developments, Road Improvements, Bridge Replacements, Electric Transmission and Distribution Lines, Sanitary Sewer, Storm Sewer, and Water Lines, Recreational Trails, School and Park Developments, Urban Renewal Projects, Pipelines, Airport Expansions, Water Detention Basins, Sewage Lagoon Sites, and Drainage Channels. We provide a full range of professional consulting services for public works, utility, and economic development projects all currently within the State of Iowa. Will train.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities

Perform title searches to determine ownership of real estate and encumbrances on property. Document preparation for the acquisition of easements, fee title, permits and other rights of way to permit the acquiring authority to construct their projects. Negotiates for acquisition of easements, fee title, permits and other land rights. Negotiates the settlement of property owner damage claims that result from construction on rights of way. Prepares, assembles, delivers hard copy of file correspondence, transfer documents, land agent contact notes for company and acquiring authority. Must be able to prioritize and handle multiple projects concurrently using exceptional organizational skills. Communicate and obtain drafted documents for due diligence purposes related to the underlying real estate. Maintains files of easements and other real estate documents. Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.

Qualifications

Real estate title experience and/or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent related work experience, is encouraged but not required and the company offers in-house training. (Typically two years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a Bachelor’s degree.) Influencing skills to negotiate and persuade. PC skills including Microsoft Office and available for overnight travel. Effective oral and written communication skills. Effective analytical and problem-solving skills. Salary: $20.00 – $25.00 per hour
